The preceding results of the origin of the fracture produced in the blade have shown that: the presence of pits found on the tail of the blade profile was caused by the corrosive atmosphere, mainly sodium and chloride salts. The speed at which the pits grow depends on the concentration of these compounds and the exposure time in this atmosphere. Following the formation of pits, residual stresses are created giving rise to the initiation of intergranular micro-cracks type.
